nasa's administrator told the u.s. needs more money to develop technology to find smaller asteroids flying around in space like infrared sensing telescope. the smaller objects pose greater threats because they are harder to detect. today's hearing comes about a month after a meteor exploded over russia injuring more than a thousand people. the general who heads the air force space command said the u.s. detected that event as it happened but not as the meteor approached earth. when somebody asked about the ability of the u.s. to spot incoming missiles. the general suggested a different forum would be the appropriate place for that discussion. meanwhile, nasa scientists say another computer glitch has signed the mars recovery curiosity. it entered safe mode over the weekend after some sort of software error. they still have contact with the thing but right now it cannot zap rocks and take pictures. even roam around on 00 red planet. second reported set back this month. a couple of weeks ago engineers discovered a problem
